Summary of Science Curriculum

Follow this link for a comprehensive summary of all the main subject areas you need to be prepared for to succeed in the Science MCAS. If you can answer questions in all these areas you should be fine - notwithstanding the inevitable curveballs so beloved of the MCAS team!!!

Science MCAS

Thursday, May 15th

Friday, May 16th

There are TWO test sessions to be completed, one each day.

We will aim for 9:00am starts. On the first day we have to do all the preliminary guff which means we won't start till roughly 9:30am. The tests are untimed - they are intended to take one hour, but they usually take between two and three hours for the majority of students!

Eat well, sleep early, relax and dominate the tests!

Don't worry - we'll be more than ready!

After-school MCAS prep Science Classes

I will be staying late over the next few days to review Fourth Grade Science work:

Monday, May 12th: Animal adaptations and Properties of matter - part 2

Tuesday, May 13th: Electricity and Magnetism

The classes will run from 3:00 until 4:30pm.

Dismissal at the main office.

Students should bring an extra snack and drink for the class.

I would strongly encourage students to attend these classes to answer any questions and address any doubts they may have about these subjects. Roughly forty percent of the content of the Fifth grade Science MCAS test is material last taught during the Fourth grade!

The students who do a good job reviewing the Fourth grade material are the ones who typically make the Advanced category in the final tests.

Fifth Grade Students vs Teachers Basketball Game

Thursday, April 3rd.

6-7pm

Prepare to be crushed, children!!!

Ha, ha, ha (cough).

The teachers have been practicing our moves, and they're sure to leave you dazzled and destroyed!
